I love anything with a stripe on it. This dress is one of my favorite pieces from my closet because of the comfortable fit and lightweight cotton blend fabric. When I am running a little behind schedule and can’t think of an outfit quick enough, this dress is my go-to. I’m looking forward to wearing it with tights and boots once fall roles around.

Monday musing

My mind has been racing over the last few months and it has been quite a blur. I’ve been having trouble trying to figure out life, deciding my next move and wondering if the decisions and choices I am making are the right ones for me. So, I followed one of my favorite quotes and headed to the coast.
I’ve been going to Mendocino (northern California) since the year I was born. It is, quite literally, my “happy place.” The second I step out of the car and feel the chilly sea breeze, I feel at peace. I went on the trip feeling lost and came home feeling as though this was my time. I realized that I need to remember to enjoy the little things, find at least one thing to be thankful for a day, and appreciate that I am working towards a bigger picture. I firmly believe that a little escape, a good cry or a run around the block is a great way to refocus and free your mind.

sunny spots and shady trees

There is a little spot in northern California that holds a very special place in my heart, Anderson Valley. This incredible location off of Highway 101 has amazing wine, people who are genuinely sweet and beautiful scenery. If you drive just past the valley, you encounter some of the largest redwood trees in the world. My boyfriend and I made a quick road trip up there this past week to wine taste and enjoy ourselves; the surroundings never cease to amaze me.

I have owned this dress skirt for four years now and I still can’t get enough of it. It is/was originally a dress from H&M that I eyed for about two months until I was lucky enough to score it on clearance. It has an empress waist line that helped hold the fold when I tucked the top inside; then I wrapped a belt around to secure it. I wore it out for brunch and shopping and loved the comfy/casual but still dressed up feeling I felt. I plan on repeating this outfit until the end of summer (always in different company, though).
